About the Authors
My name is Sally Boyd, and I am a learning professional from Houston, Texas, USA. I have a Masters of Science in Education with a Training & Development specialty. I would like to have a PhD, but I can’t justify the costs, so I hope to do some self study using this blog to share and discuss what I find.
My experience in training is mostly focused on Training Management (see my video resume). I have been a departmental training manager, and a Training Technology manager, dealing with the technology supporting the training department. Prior to my mid-life career change, I was involved in IT both as a systems support person and a manager, so please excuse the IT-related analogies.
Here are some of my interests that I plan to look into and discuss on this blog:
- Learning Management and Strategy
- Instructional Design (and it’s parts)
- Communities of Practice
- Adult Learning Theory
- Learning outside the traditional classroom
- Personality Types
- Cultural Communications
- Social Networking and other Web 2.0 opportunities
- Learning Technology/Tools
- Learning in LMNCs (Large Multi-National Corporations)
- Learning Philosophy (mine) – this might generate some heated debates!
I plan to post at least once a week — depending on my work and play schedules.
About Don Minter
Hello. My name is Don Minter. I work as a trainer for an industrial manufacturer. I have been doing training professionally for over 15 years.
Sally has graciously made me an author here, and I hope to provide helpful and useful input to this blog. Right now, I’m very tired, as I have been putting way too many hours into this current project. I will be evaluating the LMS, and hopefully can show others how to do a similar project on their own as I continue to blog here on Learning Ideas.

Hi Sally,
Thanks for the heads up on your blog. It will be interesting to see if anyone has strong opinions about adult learning and technology.
